About Karen

I’m proud to serve as the Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner for 6B09, where I work every day to make city services accessible, reliable, and responsive for our residents.

A major priority for our community is traffic management and safety. That's why I work closely with DDOT, WMATA, DPW, and other city offices to make sure our neighborhood is not overlooked. We deserve a transportation network that works for everyone, especially our most vulnerable. That means feeling safe crossing the street and knowing there will be a train or bus between where you are and where you need to go.

Washingtonians also deserve a housing market that meets everyone's affordability needs. That means we need more housing supply at a range of prices.

DC’s future depends on policies that prioritize safety, equity, and affordability, and I believe local leadership has a responsibility to deliver real, practical results.

I moved to Washington, DC in 2006 after growing up on the West Coast and have built a wide-ranging career in public service and policy. I’m deeply committed to this community and to making our corner of the city a safer, more inclusive, and more connected place to call home.

What is an ANC anyway?

Advisory Neighborhood Commissions, or ANCs, are nonpartisan neighborhood bodies composed of locally elected representatives. Washington, DC, is divided into 46 districts, each represented by ANC commissioners who give input to citywide decisions on a broad range of issues, including transportation, planning, and alcohol and beverage licenses. Each ANC commissioner is elected for a two-year term and represents a segment of the ANC, called a Single Member District (SMD), home to around 2,000 residents.

You can attend ANC meetings or join committees as a resident member to get involved in your ANC. At any time, your Commissioner would love to hear from you so they can better represent your perspective. Check out the full schedule of upcoming ANC 6B meetings here

What is ANC 6B09?

ANC 6B09 is a vibrant corner of Capitol Hill, home to the Roost food hall,  iconic dive bar Trusty's, Congressional Cemetery, and a growing, vibrant business district. 6B09 is also a transportation hub, with the Potomac Ave metro and bus lines bringing together people from across DC.
